Leadership

Before you are a leader, success is all about growing yourself. When you become a leader, success is all about growing others.– Jack Welch, former GE chairman, and CEO. As an educational leader, I use my years of experience and passion for education to support others to become the leaders and educators that they are capable of becoming. As an instructional technologist at your St. Norbert College, I will work to create meaningful educational experiences for all students by developing collaboration between all members of the faculty. I am aware of St. Norbert's reputation as a top-notch educational institution and am impressed by the multitude and variety of unique learning experiences afforded students.

Hey Ben!

I am going to flat out say it like it is: YOUR MARCH MADNESS LESSON FOR THE PRESIDENTS HAS CHANGED MY KIDS' LIVES! THANK YOU! :) I made some tweaks to the assignment for my students, and holy cow they cannot wait for March Madness to begin in two weeks with our 20th Century President March Madness research and the "Argumentative Final Four" where the kids will battle it out as I reward them 2 or 3 pointers for good answers, and fouls for bad ones! Thanks Ben, you're the best!

Matthew BarryMiddle School Social StudiesThe Alfred and Adele Davis Academy

During my career, I have been tasked with creating professional development and working with administrators in leadership roles. I would love to bring my knowledge and skills of collaboration and professional development to help build upon the existing foundation in your district to connect faculty and students both on campus and globally. In my role as an Instructional Technologist, I envision working with all staff and students to support the vision of providing an educational environment that fosters intellectual, spiritual and personal development.

My roles in education have provided me knowledge and understanding that have allowed me to develop engaging curriculum for a number of courses, and create relationships with students. Building relationships have been a primary focus throughout my career. I work to stay current with educational text from authors like Todd Whittaker and Dave Burgess Publishing.

My vision of curriculum design has been greatly influenced by the work of Grant Wiggins and Jay Mctighe.  And philosophically I continue to reference the work of Carol Dweck, John Hattie, and Daniel Pink to help refine my focus on growth mindset and motivation to learn. I have implemented ideas from these books in my classroom and work with staff to strengthen and collaborate with my professional learning community. I have hosted Twitter chats for our district and for social studies teachers. I look forward to building on these practices as an Instructional Technologist to support faculty in  their professional practice.

Beyond the classroom, community connections and service are important to the development of the whole student. Community service projects have been part of my classroom environment, and I have participated in mission trips with students to assist individuals in need. I have worked on providing students access to technology resources outside of school and assisted with our Kajeet WiFi hotspot project in Green Bay. These experiences, along with my years as a coach helped me grow my leadership skills and create positive relationships with parents and community members. I am sure this experience will serve me well in developing positive relationships as Administrator.

As a Technology Integrator in Green Bay, I served on the PBIS committee at Edison Middle school working on supporting positive behaviors in students. I am AVMR certified and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention trained. As part of the Building Leadership Team, I have assisted with developing building level professional development.

As an adjunct professor at UWGB I was able to work with educators from around the area to support their instructional practices and enhance their technology integration skills. I have been able to learn and share my knowledge at a variety of regional and national conferences, including ISTE, Midwest Google Summit, WEMTA, IDEAcon, among others. I am co-founder of the Northeast Regional Innovators group created to support technology coaches in the area to grow in their knowledge and skills. I have also served as a board member of WEMTA, Wisconsin Educational Media and Technology Association. I would love to bring my knowledge and skills of collaboration and professional development to help build upon the existing foundation at St. Norbert College to make connections both on campus and beyond.

I can be contacted at 920-403-0848 to schedule an interview to further discuss my qualifications and how I would be a valuable asset to your school district. I have included examples of my professional online presence to demonstrate what I can bring to the school district. My portfolio is gg.gg/BenBrazeau and my blog is gg.gg/tttblog.

Sincerely,
